The architecture firms shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2014 for the best building of the year come together for a unique evening event on Tuesday 30 September to reveal the stories behind their exceptional buildings, the things that inspire them and what it would mean to win the most prestigious prize in architecture.

What does great architecture look like in 2014 and who are the people responsible?

The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize 2014 includes The Shard by Renzo Piano Building Workshop, the London Aquatics Centre by Zaha Hadid Architects, Everyman Theatre in Liverpool by Haworth Tompkins, Manchester School of Art by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, LSE’s Saw Swee Hock Student Centre by O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects and the Library of Birmingham by Mecanoo. The winner of the RIBA Stirling Prize 2014 will be announced on Thursday 16 October.
